Atlantis

Privacy policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what data the Atlantis game (Android, package com.thp.atlantis) processes, why, and how to exercise your rights. In short: we have no accounts and no servers. Your progress stays on your phone. The only data that leaves it goes through Google services: advertising (AdMob), crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) and the in-app purchase (Google Play).

1. Who is responsible

Atlantis is published by THP Software, a French sole trader business (micro-entreprise) run by Thomas Piquet, 173 rue de Courcelles, 75017 Paris, France. For any question about your data: [email protected].

For advertising, Google (AdMob) acts under its own rules. For crash reports, Google (Firebase Crashlytics) processes them on behalf of THP Software, which is the controller for those reports. For the purchase, Google Play alone is responsible for payment.

2. What THP Software does not collect

  • There is no account: no sign-up, no log-in, no name or email address requested.
  • THP Software has no server that receives any data from the game.
  • The game does not ask for access to your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.

3. Data that stays on your phone

Your progress (current game, districts reached, stars, creatures discovered, tutorials completed), your settings and the status of the “No ads” purchase are stored only on the device, in the app's private storage. No one else can access them. They are erased if you uninstall the game or clear its data (Android Settings › Apps › Atlantis › Storage).

If Android's automatic backup is turned on for your phone, Android may copy this data to your own Google Drive, according to your Google settings; THP Software has no access to it.

4. Advertising: Google AdMob

The game shows ads provided by Google AdMob: a banner; full-screen ads, notably before certain districts and before “Replay this district”; and rewarded videos. A video you choose to watch grants +1 sonar. To show these ads, Google may collect:

  • your device's Android advertising ID;
  • your IP address, from which Google infers an approximate location (country, region);
  • device information: model, Android version, language, mobile carrier, connection type;
  • interactions with ads (impressions, clicks) and diagnostic data.

This data is used to serve and measure ads, limit how often they repeat, prevent fraud and, if you agree, show you personalised ads.

Your consent

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game shows Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) on first launch. You can accept or refuse personalised ads there. If you refuse, Google may still show non-personalised ads based on context. You can change your mind at any time from the game's options menu, using the “Ad choices” button.

You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings (Settings › Google › Ads, or Settings › Privacy › Ads, depending on the model).

The “No ads” purchase (non-consumable, identifier remove_ads) removes the banner and the imposed full-screen and video ads, and grants the bonus sonar without a video.

5. Crash reports: Firebase Crashlytics

If the game crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (Google) sends a report that lets us fix the problem. Google processes these reports on behalf of THP Software, which is the controller for crash reports. The report contains: the state of the program at the time of the crash (stack trace), the device model, the Android and game versions, the date and time, and a random installation identifier, specific to Crashlytics, which does not identify you directly. It contains neither your progress nor your advertising ID. Google keeps these reports for 90 days.

6. In-app purchase: Google Play

The “No ads” purchase goes through Google Play Billing. Payment is handled entirely by Google: THP Software never receives your bank details, name or email address. The game only receives confirmation of the purchase from Google Play, which it keeps on the device and has Google Play confirm at each launch (to restore it after a reinstall, or remove it after a refund).

See Google's privacy policy, which applies to Google Play.

7. Legal bases

Personalised adsYour consent, collected through Google's form in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland
Non-personalised ads, measurement and fraud preventionLegitimate interest in funding a free game, for processing that does not go through that consent. The advertising ID is not used without the consent that form requires
Crash reportsLegitimate interest in providing a game that works

8. Transfers outside the European Union

Google may process this data outside the European Union, notably in the United States. These transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google has signed up, and by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

9. Children

Atlantis is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data about them. If you believe a child under 13 has used the game and that data about them has been sent, please write to us: we will help you have it deleted by Google.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing, object to it, receive it in a portable format and withdraw your consent at any time.

  • Advertising: “Ad choices” in the game's options, and Android's ad settings.
  • Data on the device: uninstalling the game or clearing its data erases it.
  • Data held by Google: your Google Account, or the forms listed in Google's privacy policy.
  • Any other request: [email protected]. As THP Software holds no data about you, we will point you to the right contact.

You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL, or with the authority in your country (in the United Kingdom, the ICO).

11. Changes

If the game changes the way it handles data (a new service, a new kind of data), this page will be updated before the game version concerned, and its “last updated” date will change.
